After years of conceptualization, research and the development of new technologies I would like to go public with my concept of a new type of sanctuary - The Cosmic Sanctuary. Blogging about my project is the perfect way to share this concept and seek support for its development.

My goal is to develop the financial resources needed to construct the first Quantum Chamber prototype. In the coming weeks and months I will blog more about my concepts, post more pictures, discuss the actual logistics and purposes of the Q Chamber and share sources and influences.

WHAT IS THE QUANTUM CHAMBER?

The Q Chamber is a concept I have been working on for many years. As an artist I have spent my adult life experimenting with ways to visually depict abstract notions of reality. I have studied ancient metaphysical philosophy, as well as the quantum mechanics, which I find are alternative reflections on the same coin. While in graduate school (University of New Mexico) I had the opportunity, with the support of my professors, to really begin to transform my concepts into a visual application. I began working with ultraviolet light as a way to help visually capture the dynamic energy that exists within all forms. This energy is often invisible to our naked eye. My concept was to create imagery that explores the microcosm as macrocosm. I used actual theories of physics to conduct and assess my image making experiments and came up with a methodology that literally looks cosmic in nature.

The Q Chamber is a self contained portable room of any size with clears panels. The imagery is printed on backlit film (special translucent film often used in advertising) and attached to the clear panels. Under regular or ambient lighting the translucent panels actually glow and the imagery comes to life as depicted in the photos.

My objective is to create an "experience" as the viewer, completely surrounded by imagery, (walls, floor and ceiling) ceases to be aware of ordinary reality and enters the realm of the extraordinary. At that point the viewer also becomes a participator feeling a sense of expansion that is really an expansion of his/her own inner awareness.

As you acclimate yourself you begin to experience the sensations of light, color and energy stimulating your imagination, your inner resources, your soul. Sacred music is playing in the background and you smell the aroma of sandalwood. You begin to lose sense of ordinary time and space and enter the realm of non-ordinary space/time where challenges and boundaries melt away and all is possible...

QUANTUM MECHANICS

I have had many experiences both personally and as an artist that have paved the way for the development of my visual concepts.

As a sophomore at Stanford, I was hired to be a scanner for the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center which at that time ran for 2 miles underground. It was an amazing experience going on a tour of the Accelerator, seeing the place where atoms were smashed together to create subatomic particles.

Even better, I had the opportunity first hand, as a scanner, to review the film of the experiments. We were studying the "muon" in 1974. For me the beauty of the microscopic universe was incredible. The quantum unit is a particle that is viewed as an event (process). The muon, like all quanta, reveals itself a curvilinear events displaying beautiful patterns of light. And, it is these subatomic "particles" that form the basis for our "reality."

THE IMAGING PROCESS

The simulated cosmic imagery is created in a proprietary process I developed working on my MFA in the 90’s. Briefly, a 2D or 3D prototype is created, made up of acetate, plastics and other recycled materials, onto which diluted forms of fluorescent mixed-media are applied. The liquids are allowed to blend and swirl together as they dry and articulate into amazing colors and patterns that are only fully revealed under ultraviolet light. Because of the nature of the fluorescent materials the imagery cannot be fully viewed by the naked eye.

The imagery is then captured digitally as it is photographed under uv lighting. The image in then printed on special translucent film called backlit film. When the film is illuminated by regular or ambient light the backlit cosmic imagery literally glows in an “otherworldly” fashion recreating the uv experience without the harmful effects of uv lighting.

COLOR THERAPY

Color Therapy is a vibrational healing modality practiced since ancient times. The Quantum Chamber imagery and color patterns can be match to whatever vibrational frequency desired. The cosmic imagery offers a blend of color patterns to enhance the healing experience.

Purple is a general term for the range of shades of color occurring between red and blue. In human color psychology, purple is associated with royalty, and nobility. In metaphysics purple connects with the crown chakra.

Blue is the color of truth, serenity and harmony helping to soothe the mind. It is good for cooling, calming, reconstructing and protecting. It reduces fevers, calms the body and mind, raises frequency, etc. Blue is the color of electricity. and is associated with the third eye chakra.

Green is known for its calming and restorative effects. Creative intelligence is also stimulated by the color green. Green is used to symbolically represent the fourth, heart chakra.

Yellow is the color of intellect and it is used for mental clarity. In metaphysics yellow connects with the solar plexus. Linked to the sun, it is connected to the source of creation, it's frequency evolving into higher frequencies.

Orange creates balance. In metaphysics orange connects with the spleen chakra. In terms of subtle bodies, it is linked to the mental body in both its logical and conceptual form. It is used to increase immunity, to increase sexual potency, to help in all digestive ailments, chest and kidney diseases. Orange has a gentle warming effect.

Red is associated with heat, energy and blood, and emotions that "stir the blood", including anger, passion, and love. In metaphysics red connects with the root chakra. Love and devotion is represented by the color red.

The Quantum Chamber refreshes, reenergizes, rejuvenates, reflects and reengages the spirit. Most metaphysical self improvement systems require you to “do” something; read something, do certain exercises, follow designated “steps”, have something done to you, engage in some sort of formal or informal practice, etc. In the Quantum Chamber you simply enter, sit and engage in your own Beingness for a period of time. You exit at a higher level of consciousness with a deeper connection to the Universal Source of All, carrying with you a sense of empowerment and freedom to accomplish your goals and desires whatever they may be.
